How to Unlock Regirock, Regice & Registeel in Ruby, Sapphire & Emerald

Wailord first or Relicanth first? The Route 134 dive, the Sealed Chamber braille and all three Regi doors — with exact steps for R/S and Emerald.

The three legendary golems — Regirock, Regice and Registeel — sit behind the most elaborate puzzle in Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald: a hidden dive spot, two rooms of braille, and a party trick involving two unusual Hoenn Pokémon. Solve the Sealed Chamber under Route 134 to open the way to all three caves.

The Sealed Chamber — the braille room beneath Route 134 that unlocks all three Regi caves.

What you need before you start

  1. Field moves Bring Surf and Dive for field use.
  2. Dig Bring a Pokémon that knows Dig; the TM move works here.
  3. Relicanth Catch a Relicanth underwater on Route 124 or Route 126, or check its location page.
  4. Wailord Bring a Wailord by evolving Wailmer at level 40 or catching one while surfing Route 129.

Opening the Sealed Chamber

  1. Reach the dive pocket Let the currents on Route 134 carry you into the pocket containing the dark diveable water.
  2. Surface at the braille rock Dive, follow the underwater passage, then surface at the braille rock to enter the chamber.
  3. Use Dig on the back wall Pass the braille alphabet mounds, face the first room’s back wall and use Dig to open the inner room.
  4. Read the final message With Wailord and Relicanth in the correct slots, read the inner back wall. The earthquake sound confirms that Desert Ruins, Island Cave and Ancient Tomb have opened.

The three doors use different solutions by version

Each cave has its own braille wall and every solution changes between Ruby/Sapphire and Emerald. All three golems are static level 40 encounters.

In Desert Ruins, count the steps from the braille wall before using the field move. Island Cave’s Ruby/Sapphire answer really is to wait without moving.

Quick answers

Can I catch the three Regis in any order?
Yes. The Sealed Chamber earthquake opens all three caves at once.
Do I need Wailord and Relicanth again afterwards?
No. Their party positions matter only when reading the inner chamber wall.
What levels are Regirock, Regice and Registeel?
All three are level 40 in Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald.
Why do my braille steps do nothing?
Check that you are using your version’s chamber solution and the correct Wailord/Relicanth party order.
